Sani Lodge Backpackers

Russell and Simone Suchet

Sani Lodge provides a range of accommodation at the foot of the Sani Pass in the majestic Southern Drakensberg, bordering on the uKhahlamba Drakensberg Park, a World Heritage Site. Owners Russell and Simone Suchet are passionate about the wilderness, mountains and Lesotho.

Sani Lodge is at the start of the famous Giant’s Cup Trail and an excellent base for hiking, viewing Bushman rock art, exploring Lesotho, horseriding, mountain biking, swimming in mountain rivers and pools, and viewing birds and animals unique to this area. The more laid-back can simply breathe in pure mountain air, soak up the sunshine, retire to the sunny reading nook, enjoy sundowners on the verandah with an awesome view and, in winter, curl up in front of the log fire.

Local food on offer includes farmhouse buffet, trout products, fresh milk and cheese, and organic yoghurt and ice cream.
