Cape town’s original gourmet market, featuring over 100 specialty traders, fine-food purveyors, organic merchants, artisan goods, gourmet products, local farmers, seasonal items, plants & herbs, fresh produce, boutique wine estates, micro-breweries, and more every Saturday morning 9h00 - 14h00!
The Neighbourgoods Market is housed in an old sky-lit Victorian warehouse and courtyard at the Old Biscuit Mill in the emerging industrial neighbourhood of Woodstock, Cape Town. It is as much a source for farm fresh as well as organic foods and locally produced specialty goods, as it is a meeting point to enjoy community, swap ideas and stories, and become educated about what we buy and eat by going directly to the source. The Neighbourgoods Market has been created along ethical, eco-friendly and organic lines, to offer a wide range of products from the extended community of Cape Town.
The market’s honest and natural look has been created by young product designer Liam Mooney of Whatiftheworld / Design Studio. His pure approach includes energy efficient lighting, the use of recycled and reclaimed materials, FSC Certfied Sustainable Timber, organic cotton fabrics, and local manufacturing practices.
In conjunction with a local recycling organization and the Eco-Lids initiative, the Neighbourgoods Market now features a full-service recycling depot where all market waste is sorted and collected. Members of the local community and market-goers can also bring down their recyclable materials from home for disposal. In addition to these measures, all Neighbourgoods traders are encouraged to use biodegradable packaging products from Green Home, a Cape Town based company specializing in corn-based compost friendly containers.
