Jungle Theatre Company

Vincent Meyburgh

The Jungle Theatre Company (JTC) began performing theatre in South Africa in 1995 under the name of Jungle Performance. Its roots lie in the transformational period of South Africa’s history. Jungle felt the need to be a part of this dynamic time and contribute to the new SA by creating integrated theatre that was accessible to all. Jungle Performance introduced the universally accessible mediums of music, mime, puppetry, juggling and storytelling into their early performances and these have become characteristic elements of Jungle’s performance style over the years. The lively plays and workshops typically address topics such as conservation, environmental education, how to start and maintain food gardens, and South African culture in highly imaginative ways, reaching large and interactive audiences of mixed backgrounds.
