Carrotmob Cape Town:

Join Climate Smart Cape Town in South Africa's first carrotmob this weekend in the heart of Cape Town. Carrotmob is a global movement aimed at creating social change and builds upon the power of consumers to change the way in which businesses operate. You will be mobbing certain carrotmob businesses, who will in turn agree to invest a certain percentage of the profits into improving its environmental or social impact. It is a “buycott” instead of a “boycott”.

Carrotmob takes place at Maria’s Café on Dunkley Square, Gardens, this Friday 18 November from 5pm till 10:30pm

Green Expo Cape Town:

The Green Expo in Cape Town takes place this weeked at the CTICC. Expect some to find some great eco-friendly goods, green technologies, earth-friendly products and more.

Inspiring Change:

Inspiring Change is brought to you by Climate Smart Cape Town and runs concurrently with the Green Expo. It will also take place in the CTICC this weekend and features some awesome displays of green technology, lectures, presentations, site tours and talks and discussions on advancing our green responsibilities in the city.

Climate SmART Cape Town

The City of Cape Town invites all Capetonians to attend a fun-filled, free family event Climate SmART Cape Town, at the Green Point Park on Sunday. This is a chance to open up to different perspectives on climate change from some of the most insightful and talented artists, and to enjoy creative responses to the challenges of climate change. It’ll be a day to live lightly, play deeply, and celebrate a Climate Smart Cape Town.

Highlights include...

The Pavilion of Wishes- collecting people’s wishes for a Climate Smart Cape Town. At the end of the day these will be collated and delivered to the City officials who can effect change

A petting zoo of over 40 animals

‘Giant Puppets’ from UNIMA, carrying Climate Smart Cape Town’s inspirational slogans

A roster of theatre and dance

Musical group ‘Playing with Fire’

T-shirt screen-printing with a climate change slogan.

Food from Jean Nel of ‘Flamed Foods’ (barbecue cuisine), Karen Dudley of ‘The Kitchen’ (sandwiches and salads), and ‘The Queen of Tarts’ (cakes and pastries)

An exhibition of crafters who work with recycled, repurposed and upcycled materials only, curated by The Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI).
